The Race

This year’s Hospice Cup regatta takes place on Saturday, September 14, 2024. There are three racing circles offered for participating skippers and crew - a windward leeward course, a distance course, and a cruising fleet course. Prizes are awarded to boats that place in their respective fleets as well as for skippers who deliver superior team fundraising performance. The best overall performing skipper in the 3 most recent Hospice Cup events will receive an invitation to compete in the 2024 Hospice Regattas National Championship. Hospice Cup is organized by the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake and sanctioned by CBYRA, with participating boats eligible for high point credit.

The shore party and awards take place after the race at Horn Point Marina.

Teams are encouraged to fundraise and to participate in partner races, the Maryland Cures Cancer Regatta (formerly Leukemia Cup) and C.R.A.B. Cup. Boats who race and fundraise in all three regattas are eligible for the Charity Sailing Triple Crown trophy.

Fundraising

Funds raised from the Hospice Cup regatta give the gift of choice to uninsured, under-insured, and patients with limited access seeking hospice and palliative care. Team fundraising is encouraged for participating racers with superior fundraising performance acknowledged during the event programming. Sign your team up here!
