Award-winning painting chosen as feature image for Hospice Cup XLIV Regatta

The Hospice Cup, in proud partnership with the Maryland Federation of Art, is thrilled to announce Leah Bell as the winner of the 2025 Hospice Cup Art Competition and this year’s official Artist in Residence. Her powerful and evocative painting, inspired by her own personal connection to hospice care, will serve as the featured image for the 2025 Hospice Cup Regatta.

Bell’s artwork will appear on official Hospice Cup merchandise and be auctioned live at the Hospice Cup Awards Party on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

“I love the idea of giving back to such a worthwhile group,” said Bell of her winning work. The artist described the impact and care that non-profit hospices deliver, saying, “They truly are angels walking the earth amongst us.”

A Maryland native, Bell is a graduate of Towson University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and Painting, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She has studied at the prestigious Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, and trained under renowned artists Cedric and Joanette Egeli, John Ebersberger, and Bonnie Roth Anderson. She is an active member of both the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters.

The Hospice Cup is America’s largest charity regatta and an annual fundraising event that supports hospice programs throughout the region. Since 1981, it has raised millions of dollars to ensure that compassionate end-of-life care is accessible to all.
